The Unbearable Cost of Empire

Dear Friends:

On Christmas Day President Trump ordered airstrikes against what he claimed were ISIS forces in the northeast of the African country of Nigeria. In his own words, he "launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!”

The approximately 24 Tomahawk cruise missiles fired into Sudan cost the American taxpayer some $30 Million, but factoring in the cost of the US military assets involved in the attack the total cost must be well over $100 million - perhaps many times more than that.

Surely no decent person enjoys seeing Christians - or any group - persecuted overseas. But what makes this strike extraordinary is that there was not even a haphazard attempt to tie the strike to US interests.

It's possible the people targeted in Nigeria are "scum." But if the United States is going to take it upon itself to spend $100 million each time someone overseas does something "scummy," even our record-breaking $1 trillion military budget is not going to suffice

The Ron Paul Institute speaks for that vast majority of Americans who are tired of this game. Who are tired of seeing their children's and grandchildren's future mortgaged to enrich the politically-connected class who benefits from our foreign adventurism.

In these last few days of 2025 we ask you to please
consider a year-end, tax-deductible contribution to the Ron Paul Institute so that we can continue to make the case for NO foreign entanglements!
