Greek law: Leave no Thrace
Thanks to a quirk of history, the Muslim population of Western Thrace, a part of Greece by the border with Turkey, has family matters regulated by sharia (Islamic law). Alexis Tsipras, Greece’s prime minister, is about to introduce legislation that will change this odd state of affairs. Greek officials have been at pains to stress that they are not abolishing sharia, merely making it a matter of free choice, writes our religion columnist
